Slovakia’s industrial confidence indicator rose by 5.6 points in April 2026 to 2.3, up from -3.3 in March, returning to its highest level since December 2025. The improvement was driven mainly by a sharp increase in expected production (31 vs 9 in March), led in particular by manufacturers of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, and other transport equipment (64 vs 38), as well as by producers of furniture, other manufactured goods, and firms engaged in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (19 vs 12), and by producers of non‑metallic mineral products (15 vs -9).

The employment outlook also became slightly less pessimistic (-6 vs -8), while stocks of finished products rose (22 vs 16). At the same time, firms’ assessment of current industrial production improved (-2 vs -7), and their views on the current level of orders also strengthened marginally (-2 vs -3). However, sentiment regarding export orders worsened (-12 vs -7), indicating weaker external demand.
