In October 2025, China's National Bureau of Statistics reported that the Non-Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) registered at 50.1, barely an improvement over September’s 10-month low of 50.0. Both the new orders index (46.0) and the employment index (45.2) remained subdued, consistent with September's figures. Meanwhile, the decline in foreign sales intensified (46.2 compared to 49.8 the previous month). There was a slight reduction in supplier delivery times (50.9 from 51.1), suggesting a modest alleviation of logistical pressures. On the pricing side, input costs continued to decrease for the second month in a row, albeit at a less sharp rate (49.4 compared to 49.0), and selling prices also fell at a slower rate (47.8 versus 47.3). Looking forward, business confidence saw an uptick from September’s three-month low, rising to 56.1 from 55.7, buoyed by easing trade tensions with the United States.
