In August 2025, Slovakia's annual inflation rate slightly decreased to 4.2%, down from July's nineteen-month peak of 4.4%, aligning with market forecasts. This deceleration in price growth was observed across various sectors: food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded a growth of 3.9% compared to 4.4% in July; alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw a rise of 6.1% down from 6.7%; and furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance rose by 3.1% compared to a previous 3.2%. Similarly, sectors like recreation and culture (4.8% vs. 4.9%), restaurants and hotels (9.3% vs. 9.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (6.0% vs. 6.3%) also reported slower growth. Conversely, the health sector experienced an increase, with costs climbing to 2.4% from 1.9%, while transport rose to 2.1% from 1.5%, and communication costs edged up to 4.4% from 4.3%. Price stability was noted in the clothing and footwear sector (3.6%) and education, which remained constant at 10%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices saw a slight increase of 0.1% in August, consistent with expectations, yet slowing from the preceding month's 0.3% rise.
