14.09.202612:30:00UTC+00Canada’s August Inflation Holds Steady at 3.0% Year-over-Year

Canada’s consumer price inflation remained unchanged in August 2026, with the year-over-year CPI reading holding at 3.0%, the same pace recorded in July 2026.

According to data updated on 14 September 2026, the August figure confirms that price growth, measured on a year-over-year basis, has stabilized for a second consecutive month. The current reading compares the change in prices in August 2026 to August 2025, while the previous figure reflected the change in July 2026 relative to July 2025.

The flat move at 3.0% suggests that, at least over the summer period, Canadian inflation has neither accelerated nor decelerated on a yearly basis, leaving the broader disinflation trend and future policy implications to be assessed as new data emerges in the coming months.
