2026.09.1412:30:00UTC+00Canada’s Trimmed CPI Holds Steady at 1.9% in August, Matching July Pace

Canada’s trimmed Consumer Price Index (CPI) remained unchanged in August 2026, holding at 1.9% year-over-year, the same pace recorded in July 2026. The data, updated on 14 September 2026, show that underlying price pressures—once volatile components are stripped out—have neither accelerated nor cooled further over the past month.

On a year-over-year basis, the “actual” August reading compares price changes in August 2026 to those in August 2025, while the “previous” figure reflects July 2026 versus July 2025. The identical 1.9% readings for both months indicate that core inflation momentum, as captured by the trimmed CPI measure, was stable through the heart of the summer period.
