Fitch Ratings has affirmed the Czech Republic’s long‑term foreign- and local‑currency issuer default ratings at ‘AA‑’ with a Stable Outlook. The agency cited credible macroeconomic policies, strong institutional frameworks, and a solid external balance sheet as key supporting factors.

Although fiscal deficits are expected to widen under the new coalition government’s more expansionary fiscal stance, Fitch anticipates that this loosening will remain contained, allowing public debt to stay below the median level of similarly rated peers.

The Czech Republic’s growth outlook is considered robust, underpinning ongoing income convergence toward wealthier EU member states. However, Fitch also notes risks stemming from the government’s confrontational approach to the EU on issues such as migration and climate policy. Despite this, EU fund disbursements are not expected to be compromised, and the country’s overall resilience remains intact in the face of fiscal pressures.

Among other major rating agencies, Standard & Poor’s assigns the Czech Republic a long‑term sovereign credit rating of ‘AA‑’ with a Stable Outlook. Moody’s rates the country at ‘Aa3’ with a Stable Outlook, while DBRS maintains an ‘AA’ rating, also with a Stable Outlook.
