2025.09.1613:41:06UTC+00S&P and Nasdaq Set Fresh Records

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq both edged up by 0.1% on Tuesday, achieving new record highs following their all-time peaks in the previous session. In contrast, the Dow Jones remained relatively flat. Investors are closely watching the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, which kicks off today, as the Federal Reserve is anticipated to implement a 25 basis point rate cut tomorrow. On the economic front, retail sales and industrial production data exceeded expectations, as did export and import prices. However, these positive figures had little impact on market expectations for Federal Reserve policy. Among sectors, energy stood out with strong performance, while utilities and technology experienced declines. In corporate developments, Oracle climbed 3.2% following news that it is part of a consortium that may allow TikTok to continue operations in the U.S. Alphabet's shares remained mostly unchanged after it announced a £5 billion investment over the next two years to bolster the UK's AI sector. Conversely, Nvidia and Broadcom both saw declines, slipping approximately 0.7%.
